Asbestos is best known for its role in causing mesothelioma, a rare and deadly form of cancer that develops mainly in the lungs. Although we now know about its dangers, it was a popular building material as recently as 1990. Due to its fire-resistant nature, it was used in insulation, shingles, ceiling tiles, and even cement.
Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School’s library has been closed for the first half of lunch since the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. “It feels a bit unfair to the students and to the people who really need it,” said Anton LoRi, a twelfth grader who is amongst the many students affected by the library closure.
The Region of Peel will be offering a dental screening to all eleventh and twelfth grade students at Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School on August 28th, 2017.
This year marks Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School’s last year for Student Activity Council elections. There were a record-breaking 34 applications submitted for next year’s executive positions, but the Council managed to whittle it down to just a few key candidates for the position of President and the two positions of Vice President.
